CONNECTING TRADE BETWEEN BUSINESSES IN HO CHI MINH CITY AND ENTERPRISES IN THE MEKONG DELTA REGION

On the afternoon of March 10th, a trade connection conference took place in Ben Tre province, bringing together corporations, domestic and international businesses, and enterprises from provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region. This activity was part of the Conference on summarizing the Economic-Social Development Cooperation Program between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces in the Mekong Delta region.
Attending the trade connection conference were Mr. Vo Van Hoan – Deputy Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Mr. Le Duc Tho – Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Ben Tre, Mr. Nguyen Minh Canh – Deputy Chairman of the Ben Tre Provincial People’s Committee, and representatives from 124 enterprises, cooperatives, and production facilities from 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region, including Green Powers.
In recent years, Ho Chi Minh City has created opportunities for products from Mekong Delta provinces and cities to access distributors and penetrate modern distribution channels through supermarkets, commercial centers, and e-commerce platforms in the city. This has actively contributed to solving market outlets for agricultural and processed products from localities, as well as creating opportunities for promotion and export of goods to foreign markets.
Through discussions at the conference, distribution units affirmed their desire to cooperate with all production facilities to diversify and enrich the range of goods. However, production businesses also need to work closely with distribution units to implement promotional programs so that both parties can sell goods and consumers can benefit.
The conference also identified three major areas of focus: overcoming significant barriers between parties (businesses, distributors, and authorities), opening up and creating new development opportunities, and shaping distinctive brand chains.
During the conference, production businesses, cooperatives, and facilities from Mekong Delta provinces showcased and introduced their products for connection with distributors in Ho Chi Minh City. As a result, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City evaluated that there were 101 potential businesses, including 46 products that signed memorandums of understanding, and 1 product that directly signed a contract at the conference. Particularly, Green Powers was among the participating enterprises.
