GREEN POWERS ORGANIZES TRAINING ON GLOBALGAP STANDARD FOR GREEN SKIN POMELO GROWING AREA FOR FARMERS IN BEN TRE PROVINCE

On April 26th, Green Powers collaborated with the People’s Committee of Long Thanh, Long Hoa, Binh Dai, Ben Tre to initiate the implementation of a training plan for establishing a GlobalGAP standard pomelo growing area for farmers in the commune.
Currently, only a few growing areas in the commune are certified to meet VietGAP standards. However, VietGAP standards are not recognized worldwide and only hold value within the territory of Vietnam. Therefore, when exporting products to foreign markets, the products still lack certifications regarding the growing area and product, which fails to instill confidence in consumers and importers.
Recognizing these issues, Green Powers has actively implemented various measures to find a sustainable and safe path while improving the quality of green skin pomelos.
Green Powers has also enhanced promotion and communication to raise awareness among the local residents about the significance and importance of producing green skin pomelos according to GlobalGAP standards. They are implementing a comprehensive approach from production to packaging, processing, and preservation to proactively serve exports, expanding and diversifying the market to countries such as Japan, South Korea, the United States, Australia, and more.
In the immediate future, there will be 18 registered households meeting the approval criteria to obtain the GlobalGAP certification, and this number will increase according to market demand and the actual production and business of the company.
These growing areas not only provide the company with a reliable source of clean raw materials but also help farmers change their perceptions and realize the economic benefits of cultivating safe and clean green skin pomelos in the new era of ensuring food safety. This also creates favorable conditions for establishing a strong link between the company and farmers in the stages of production, processing, and consumption of green skin pomelos, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development of this crop.
